Do Process provides exclusive electronic gateway to FCT purchase mortgage program

We, at Do Process, make every effort to provide solutions that promote the lawyer’s key role in the real estate transaction process.  To do so effectively, we must respond to, and at times, anticipate, changes in this dynamic marketplace.

 As you are likely aware, virtually every major lending institution is investigating the outsourcing of purchase mortgage transactions as a way to achieve efficiency and cost savings.  Outsourcing enables a lender to transmit mortgage details to a third party who would manage communications with the lawyer (whether in Ontario or another province) as well as preparation of the mortgage document.

 We believe that, with the right intermediary, and with an efficient channel of communication to the lawyer’s desktop, the lawyer will also benefit through increased efficiency.  First Canadian Title is in negotiations with major lending institutions to offer such an outsourcing service, and we are encouraged that they have enlisted the services of Do Process to ensure that the general approach and technology is designed to integrate into the lawyer’s existing workflow.

 Here are some of the advantages which distinguish the First Canadian Title approach from that of other outsourcing companies:

  • A lender title policy is included as part of the process; the owner policy may be ordered from First Canadian Title or from another title insurance company;
  • The cost of title insurance under this program is comparable to First Canadian Title’s regular charges, and there are no additional processing fees;
  • The lawyers’ electronic gateway to the system requires only an internet browser, and is by way of a website developed and operated by Do Process (www.convey.ca); This enables access to the system by the real estate bar at large- and demonstrates the commitment to protecting the prerogative of homebuyers to select the solicitor of their choice;
  • Integration of the process with The Conveyancer program will soon be implemented.

For further information, please feel free to contact me at extension 103 or David Wybrow, Vice President, Residential Title Insurance Services Division at First Canadian Title.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Brown, B.Sc., LL.B.
